Procedural Training

Fellows receive ample procedural training and are skilled in these common ICU procedures:

  • Arterial catheter placement
  • Critical care ultrasound
  • Central venous catheter placement
  • Chest tube insertion and management
  • Endotracheal intubation
  • Thoracentesis
  • Paracentesis
  • Flexible bronchoscopy
  • Endobronchial Ultrasound (PCCM only)
  • Endobronchial and transbronchial biopsies (PCCM only)

Fellows with a special interest in more advanced procedural training have opportunity for certification in the following:

  • Critical care echocardiography
  • Robotic bronchoscopy certification on Ion system
  • Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation
