Founded in 1887, the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Urology is one of the oldest and most trusted urology departments in the country with world-renowned clinicians, educators and researchers in the areas of testis cancer, bladder cancer, prostate cancer, pediatric urology and stone disease as well as other urologic subspecialties. The department is most well-known for its contributions to testicular cancer, urinary tract reconstruction, the surgical treatment of children with congenital bladder disease and advanced stone treatment. Researchers in this department also pioneered focal treatment of prostate cancer with High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) and were the first to publish on HIFU in the United States. The department is one of the first to offer this treatment through its clinical partnership with Indiana University Health.
