Research

Neurocritical care research opportunities in the fields of traumatic brain injury, spine injuries, stroke and neurovascular disorders in neurocritical care are conducted via either the research division at the IU School of Medicine Neurosciences Institute, the Methodist Research Center, the IU School of Medicine Biomedical Research or the Regenstrief Institute Centers of Brain Health Research.

Multiple opportunities for clinical and bench research are available through these resources. Neurocritical care fellows at IU Methodist will be able to make a tremendous contribution to the field of severe neurological illness research due to the large volume of potential research subjects, robust infra-structure, research personnel, IRB facilitation and brain health/ cognitive research outcomes-based research carried out these facilities.

Scholarly expectations for Fellows:

  • Design, implementation and completion of one prospective research project, trial or quality project and/or
  • Completion and submission of a review article/meta-analysis or systematic review to peer reviewed journals and/or
  • Two or more retrospective study designs and completion or case reports plus submission to peer reviewed journals and
  • Participation and submission of abstracts to neurocritical care and critical care national/international conferences at least once a year
