Hoosier Inflammatory Bowel Disease Gut Club

The Hoosier Inflammatory Bowel Disease Gut Club is a quarterly case conference hosted by IU School of Medicine and the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Each session features a dinner paired with in-depth discussion of three inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patient cases, approximately 30 minutes per case, including insights from IBD experts and evidence-based presentations. Attendees have the option to join either in person or virtually. Registration is free, and all participants are asked to RSVP at least one week in advance to ensure adequate venue space and meal accommodations for in-person attendees.

Course Director's Message

What began as a vision to create a multidisciplinary forum for discussing complex inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) cases has now become a well-established and valued tradition within our division. The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, in collaboration with the continuing education office, has proudly hosted the quarterly Hoosier Inflammatory Bowel Disease Gut Club.

This conference has grown into a regional resource, with online participation now extending across at least half a dozen states. Our audience includes a wide range of allied health professionals — MDs, DOs, NPs, RNs, PAs and PharmDs — reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of IBD care. In addition to adult and pediatric IBD specialists, we’re proud to include experts from general gastroenterology, surgery, colorectal surgery, rheumatology, dermatology and radiology.

Each session also features the Hoosier IBD Gut Press, a curated segment that highlights five impactful articles from the quarter with the potential to influence clinical practice.
