Satya Kurada, M.D.

Dr. Kurada is a graduate from the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, India which is consistently ranked among the top three medical schools in India. After having trained at Rochester General Hospital, Dr. Kurada pursued advanced fellowships in immune disorders of the bowel i.e. celiac disease and inflammatory bowel disease at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School. Further, Dr. Kurada trained at the Cleveland Clinic where in he was both a clinical fellow and a NIH T32 fellow. He focused his research on breath and serum headspace biomarkers and investigated the role of platelets in IBD related fibrosis.

 

In his current role at Indiana University, Dr. Kurada offers clinical expertise in small bowel disorders and inflammatory bowel disease. He focuses on epidemiologic studies in celiac disease, clinical outcomes of inflammatory bowel disease and celiac disease in patients with both these conditions. Dr. Kurada is passionate about clinical education in inflammatory bowel disease and is the course director of the quarterly Hoosier IBD gut club. He is the principle investigator of clinical trials in celiac disease and also leads the Study of a Prospective Adult Research Cohort with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (SPARC-IBD) initiative sponsored by the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America at Indiana University.
