As a medical school student at Indiana University, you are required to meet all annual compliance requirements by the set deadline of Aug. 4, 2025. These requirements are mandatory for maintaining the safety and well-being of both you and your patients. Below are the eight main compliance items that must be completed:
- The HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) module is designed to ensure that you understand and comply with the regulations set forth by HIPAA regarding the protection and confidential handling of patient health information.

- Please upload and submit your completion certificate for the HIPAA module into your MedHub account. The completion certificate will have the IU logo, your name, and the course name reflected on the completion certificate.
- The IU School of Medicine Compliance Office will then review your documentation and validate that you have completed these annual requirements.
- This training is essential for understanding the risks associated with bloodborne pathogens and the appropriate precautions to take in clinical settings to prevent exposure.
- Access the Bloodborne Pathogens Training. (Opens July 1, 2025)
- Please upload and submit your completion certificate for the Bloodborne Pathogens certificate into your MedHub account. The completion certificate will have the IU logo, your name, and the course name reflected on the completion certificate.
- The IU School of Medicine Compliance Office will then review your documentation and validate that you have completed these annual requirements.
IU School of Medicine requires all students to maintain a current, valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers ONLY from a licensed American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross training facility or provider. BLS certification from any other BLS course will not be accepted by IU School of Medicine as valid BLS certification. Valid BLS courses should have an educational component (either online or in-person) AND an in-person skills check-off component.
- It is the student’s responsibility to obtain and maintain valid BLS certification.
- Ensure your BLS Certification is valid through April 2026 or complete a renewal course if necessary.
Recommended Courses:
- American Heart Association’s “Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals” course.
- American Red Cross’s “BLS for Healthcare and Public Safety” course.
- CPR, K-12 First Aid, and other course types will not be accepted as valid BLS certification for IU School of Medicine students.

This document must have the AHA or American Red Cross logo, your name, and dates of certification. Certificate showing completion of the online educational course only will not be accepted.

- Complete all Annual Mandatories modules on the designated online platform.

- These will be available in mid-July 2025.

Failure to comply with the rules of the clinical affiliate may jeopardize the student’s ability to complete graduation requirements. IU School of Medicine will make reasonable efforts to minimize disruption but cannot guarantee students will not be affected or that they will earn a degree.
