Travel Grants

We encourage students to look for local meetings and conferences to present your research project. Below are some of the available opportunities available at IU School of Medicine.

  • IMPRS Symposium
  • CTSI Annual Meeting
  • IU School of Medicine Education Day
  • IU School of Medicine Research Day
  • Student Research Symposium

Many national meetings and conferences offer travel grants. Please explore those options from each conference. Additionally, check with your PI/mentor if they have funds or can help you get travel funding from their department or section.

Below are travel funding options available at IU School of Medicine and IU Indianapolis. If you have any questions, please send inquiries to imprs@iu.edu or contact Brittney-Shea Herbert, PhD.

IU School of Medicine Medical Student Travel Grants

The IMPRS Office has limited funds for medical student travel awards each academic year. The purpose of the fund is to help medical students defray the cost of attending regional or national scientific meetings to present their scientific research or other scholarly work as a poster or oral presentations.

A review committee will evaluate the applications on a competitive basis four times within the academic year and a limited number of awards are available in each cycle due to the limited available funds.

This is a competitive process. Applying does not guarantee funds will be granted. Be mindful when making your travel plans. If awarded, funds are granted as reimbursements after you return from the conference and the required documentations are submitted.

Please contact Brittney-Shea Herbert or Anne Nguyen directly for more information or if you have questions related to the travel grants.
