Medical school can be challenging on many levels, but know you don't have to navigate it alone. Whether you need immediate help, someone to talk to, or resources to support your well being, there are options available to you.

Mental Health Support

The Department of Mental Health Services provides free, confidential counseling to IU School of Medicine students across all campuses.

Support is available for:

  • Stress and burnout
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Life transitions
  • Academic or personal challenges

Indiana University School of Medicine offers an integrated four-year wellness and personal development experience with curricular and co-curricular opportunities at all nine campuses. This comprehensive wellness program trains medical students to develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors to maintain their own wellness throughout the lifetime of their career.

  • The Mental Health Services Well Beings Podcast — Quick, practical conversations on mental health and navigating medical training.

  • Mind Body Medicine — A non-credit, small-group elective offered in Phase 1, focused on stress reduction, self-awareness and building resilience through evidence-based mind-body practices.

Get Involved

Wellness Coalition

The Wellness Coalition is a student-led group that creates wellness opportunities across all IU School of Medicine campuses. Representatives collaborate to host events, share resources and support student well-being.

The coalition contributes to orientation, STEPS/HSS wellness sessions and ongoing programming throughout the curriculum.
