Program leadership and residents of the IU internal medicine residency program.

Our program is committed to ensuring an equitable and transparent recruitment process for our applicants. To ensure this, we:

  • Utilize a holistic approach to reviewing applications, seeking future colleagues whose experiences and strengths reflect our program values of excellence, compassion, community, curiosity, resilience and innovation.

  • Utilize virtual recruitment through the Thalamus platform and standardized behavioral interview questions to reduce bias.

  • Never invite more applications than the number of interview spots we can honor.

  • Do NOT use attendance at optional open houses or other on-site opportunities in interview for ranking decisions.

  • Do NOT sponsor externships/observerships.

We are excited to download completed applications for review on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025. Please note:

  • It is strongly recommended that applicants with a serious interest in our program signal our program (NRMP# 1401721133) and region (ENC) using the ERAS tiered signaling option.

  • While not strictly required, it is strongly recommended that DO candidates provide USMLE Step 2 scores, especially if they are considering future fellowship specialty training.

  • Students applying from international medical schools must be ECFMG certified at the time of application, have graduated no more than three years prior to the planned start of internship and have completed significant US clinical experience during those three years with accompanying letters of recommendation. Our program currently only considers applicants on J-1 visas.

We plan to extend our first round of interviews at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025. A limited number of additional interview invitations may be extended later as availability arises.

Virtual interviewing will commence the week of Nov. 4, 2025 and will be completed on Jan. 8, 2026.

Interviews will consist of a virtual information and mingle session on Monday evening plus a half day of virtual interviews and case conference attendance on the following Tuesday or Thursday.

We will be locking our rank list on Feb. 9, 2026, prior to offering second look visits for interested candidates.​
