The mission of the Neuroimmunology Research Group at the Stark Neurosciences Research Institute is to create a climate where the role of neuroimmune and inflammatory mechanisms in the pathogenesis and management of neurological and neuro-oncological conditions is valued, nurtured and expanded through the integration of basic, translational, clinical, and mentoring activities across the Indiana University School of Medicine. This research will encompass studies related to neurological, neuro-oncological, neuropsychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders with a neuro-immune or inflammatory component. The research group will facilitate its mission by the creation of a strong partnership with the private sector/biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies that can help innovate and advance new discoveries to the clinic, as well as with partnerships with communities of patients afflicted with these conditions who yearn to learn more about their disease and many of whom are eager to donate funds to support cutting-edge research in these areas of research and innovative health care delivery.
