Research Imaging Core

The Research Imaging Core at the Medical Imaging Research (MIRI) has extensive cutting-edge imaging capabilities to support investigations spanning clinical trials to preclinical studies. The core is equipped with state-of-the-art imaging systems, preclinical catheterization lab and a medical cyclotron radiochemistry facility with the capacity to deliver commonly used and novel radiotracers. Core users also have access to highly skilled faculty and staff who can assist with imaging-driven research study designs.

Image-driven research performed by highly-skilled scientists

The Research Imaging Core drives high impact preclinical and clinical imaging research in an unprecedented manner in the Midwest for investigators within the institute and across Indiana University to better understand disease, test novel therapeutics and bring interventions to the forefront. The core is located across three sites, including Research II, Goodman Hall and the Biomedical Research and Training Center near 16 Tech.

The Research Imaging Core features a cath lab, .55T Freemax and ultrasound technologies. The core is organized into three imaging cores and the Office of Research Imaging.

Radiochemistry Research Core

The Radiochemistry Research Core operates as a shared resource within MIRI. Located in the Biomedical Research and Training Center, the core supports both preclinical and clinical imaging studies through the production, quality control and development of radiopharmaceuticals.

Office of Research Imaging

The Office for Research Imaging is dedicated to supporting IU School of Medicine investigators and their staff through biomedical imaging in preclinical research and clinical trials. The office successfully plans and implements complex imaging protocols within the vast resources offered between MIRI and the IU Health vast hospital network. All studies using core or IU Health Radiology resources must register with the Office for Research Imaging (IU credentials are required).
