Bio
Dr. Brown joined the IU School of Medicine in February 2025 as Director of Neurovascular Research for the Center for Neurovascular Disorders in the IU School of Medicine/IU Health Neuroscience Institute. She is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Anesthesia and Neurology and primary member in the Stark Neurosciences Research Institute at Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Brown received her PhD from Duke University in Genetics and Genomics followed by postdoctoral training in neuroscience and brain aging at the University of Washington, Seattle.
Year | Degree | Institution |

2011 | Postdoctoral Training | University of Washington |
2005 | Postdoctoral Training | University of California, Davis |
2004 | PhD | Duke University |
1998 | BS | College of William & Mary |
The long-term goal of her research program is to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying neuroimmune and neurovascular interactions in brain injury and how they contribute to the onset and severity of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD). Current projects in her laboratory focus on the role of alkaline phosphatases at the blood-brain barrier and gut-vascular barrier in animal models of ischemic stroke, sepsis, and Alzheimer's disease.
