Physician Training for Practicing Pediatricians

The Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics is committed to providing ongoing education and training for practicing physicians for the continued development of their skills as outstanding clinicians and researchers. Throughout the year, the department offers continuing education in easy to access formats including conferences, grand rounds, meetings, webinars and online resources to help pediatricians stay informed of the latest learning and best practices for their respective disciplines.

Pediatric Continuing Education Programs

Part IV Maintenance of Certification (MOC4)
The Department of Pediatrics offers help and guidance for board certified pediatricians who want American Board of Pediatrics Part IV Maintenance of Certification credit by performing meaningful quality improvement projects within their clinical workspace. This applies to both IU School of Medicine faculty and other practicing physicians in the State of Indiana.

Pediatric Grand Rounds
Grand rounds take place weekly in the Riley Outpatient Center auditorium and can be attended in person or online.

Annual Pediatric Conference
This conference takes place each May and addresses clinical best practices across a broad array of primary care pediatrics.

Practical Pearls
These workshops take place annually and are designed for pediatricians, family practice physicians and others providing primary health care to children. This course reviews current scientific advances as they apply to daily practice.

The Simulation Center
Located on the IU School of Medicine-Indianapolis campus, the Simulation Center at Fairbanks Hall brings Indiana’s current and future doctors, nurses and technicians together in collaborative practice in a variety of clinical settings. Together, these interdisciplinary teams will practice on mannequins that respond like real patients, immerse themselves in computer-simulated surgery and react to complicated emergency room dramas.
