Pediatric Gastroenterology

The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at IU School of Medicine includes 17 board-certified pediatric gastroenterologists, one nurse practitioner, one general pediatrician and one psychologist who care for children with disorders of the digestive tract: esophagus, stomach, intestine, liver and pancreas. Pediatric gastroenterologists provide comprehensive evaluations and individualized treatment plans for patients and extensive education for families.

Named as one of the top pediatric gastroenterology programs in the nation by US News and World Report, the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at IU School of Medicine is regularly acknowledged for their professionalism, skill and medical expertise and are consistently named as some of the Top Doctors in Indianapolis and Top Doctors in the Nation. The faculty physicians in this pediatric specialty division have been consistently recognized for their efforts in medical education with multiple teaching awards and honors.

Pediatric gastroenterology physicians at Indiana University School of Medicine serve as leaders in several national GI organizations such as NASPGHAN and ACG. The pediatric GI faculty also participate in several national multicenter research networks. Numerous important publications in inflammatory bowel disease, liver diseases and eosinophilic diseases have been authored by faculty in the IU School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.

GI physicians are actively engaged in clinical research. The Department of Pediatrics has a strong research division that focuses on basic and translational science, and GI physicians regularly participate in clinical trials of leading-edge treatments and therapies.
