Applications
IU School of Medicine offers elective experiences which allow students to visit and train at participating state-wide residency programs. All medical students must use the AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) program to apply for electives at Indiana University School of Medicine.
IU School of Medicine accepts applications from qualified students in their final year of training at:
- LCME (MD) schools in the U.S. and Puerto Rico
- COCA accredited AACOM member (DO) colleges
IU School of Medicine currently does not accept international students for elective training.

2026-27 VSLO Dates
- Application acceptance begins April 13-17, 2026
- Application decisions begin May 1, 2026
- Visitations begin June 1, 2026 and end Feb. 28, 2027
Guest students must follow 2026-27 Phase 3 (4th year) rotation block dates. Not all courses will be available for all dates. All dates subject to change.
