Transitional Year Family

As a lifelong Hoosier from central Indiana, I am beyond elated to have matched at Ball Memorial’s Transitional Year program, where I have the opportunity and privilege to care for members of my community.

My undergraduate years were spent at Indiana University in Bloomington, where I earned degrees in biology and philosophy. Immediately following that, I continued my education at the Indiana University School of Medicine, spending the vast majority of my time at the South Bend campus. Following my training at Ball Memorial Hospital, I will be continuing my education in the specialty of anesthesiology at IU’s residency program in Indianapolis.

In my research, I employ a true multi-disciplinary approach, fusing my background of philosophy with my current medical education. My current research interests encompass blood management in trauma, patient autonomy, physician duties and Kant’s ethics.

Outside of the hospital in my free time, I love to watch films, do some cooking and play board games with friends.

A true Ohio River Valley native, I was born and raised in Jeffersonville, IN, just outside the Louisville, KY area. I chose to stay close to home for undergrad, attending Bellarmine University and majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology. While in college, I also ran both cross country and long-distance track and field. I then attended medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine, with my preclinical years spent at the Evansville regional campus before transitioning to the Indianapolis campus for most of my clinical rotations.

I'm looking forward to my intern year here at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, both to experience the practice of medicine in a new, supportive environment and to have the freedom to develop my schedule in a way that will greatly benefit me in my future years of training! Following my intern year, I will be returning to Indiana University School of Medicine for my training in interventional and diagnostic radiology.

Outside of the hospital, I enjoy getting coffee, working on my landscape photography and running (I've completed three marathons up to this point).

I grew up in Zionsville, IN, a suburb of Indianapolis, and pursued my undergraduate studies at Purdue University, where I earned a degree in health sciences in 2020. During my gap year, I worked for the Indiana State Department of Health on their Covid-19 response team. I then went on to attend Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

In my free time, I enjoy singing and playing guitar, especially songs that blend Bollywood and Western music. I also enjoy playing basketball, pickleball and going on nature adventures and photography outings with my wife. Additionally, I have a passion for travel and have been fortunate to visit over 15 countries.

I'm thrilled to be completing my transitional year at Ball Memorial Hospital. During my residency interview, I was drawn to the program’s close-knit, family-like atmosphere, combined with the benefits of being part of a large academic health system. After this year, I will return to Indianapolis to begin my anesthesiology residency at Indiana University School of Medicine.

I grew up in Kokomo, IN and attended Ball State University for my undergraduate studies. At Ball State, I majored in biochemistry, met my wife and graduated in 2018. I spent two years after my undergraduate education working as a cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation technician at Logansport Memorial Hospital, and then as a patient care assistant in the emergency department at Ball Memorial Hospital. I then completed a master’s degree in biomedical sciences at Marian University before attending Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school the following year. I was introduced to physical medicine and rehabilitation by a mentor during a Whole Person Care preceptorship in Redlands, CA the summer between my first and second year of medical school and quickly felt that it suited my personality and desire to care for that patient population. My wife and I are excited to be in Muncie for my transitional year and to return to Indianapolis for Indiana University School of Medicine’s PM&R program next year. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and son, playing disc golf, reading and hiking.
