Senior Writer
Laura Gates serves as senior writer at the Indiana University School of Medicine. As lead storyteller for the school, Laura shares the stories of the people behind the latest research discoveries, health initiatives and educational advancements happening throughout the school’s nine campuses — showing how IU is working toward better health in Indiana.
Her writing strengthens the school’s visibility both locally and nationally while supporting the mission of the largest medical school in the United States. She also supports institutional brand management through editorial style guidance, editing and writing mentorship.
Before joining IU in 2020, Laura spent more than 15 years working as a reporter and editor for community newspapers and magazines in Indiana and Florida. She earned a degree in journalism from Ball State University.
