Integrated National Network for Obstetric and Pediatric Advancement in Therapeutic Education Fellowship

Indiana University School of Medicine is a key partner in the newly funded Integrated National Network for Obstetric and Pediatric Advancement in Therapeutic Education (INNOVATE) T32 training program, a multi-institutional initiative designed to support the career development of post-doctoral fellows pursuing careers in obstetric and pediatric clinical pharmacology. The program leverages national research networks and brings together faculty and resources from Indiana University, Duke University, the University of North Carolina and the University of Utah.

The fellowship provides two years of funding support for up to four trainees per year from participating institutions.  Fellows will be matched with a primary research mentor in one of three focus areas: pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics and clinical trials; pharmacoepidemiology and data science; and translational research. Mentorship will also be provided through a cross-institutional mentorship committee and support of peer mentees.

Program Requirements

The INNOVATE T32 program is designed to support the development of independent clinician-scientists and researchers. Each postdoctoral fellow will:

  • Conduct a mentored research project aligned with their career goals
  • Receive structured career development training
  • Participate in grant writing, manuscript preparation and scientific communication
  • Take part in a cross-institutional INNOVATE forum
  • Engage with a faculty mentoring committee and advisory boards

Trainees are expected to develop strong foundations in research design, data analysis and scientific communication, positioning them for successful careers in academia, industry or regulatory science. INNOVATE fellows will also collaborate and network with current and alumni maternal-pediatric clinical pharmacology trainees through the NICHD’s Clinical Pharmacology Trainee Network (CPTN).

Applications are currently being accepted for INNOVATE fellows. Individuals must have received an MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent doctoral degree and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
