Save the date: Inaugural MIRI Biennial

Join us on Nov. 6 from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at Joseph E. Walther Hall for the Inaugural MIRI Biennial. The conference will showcase the latest advances in interventional MRI research and technology. The biennial is designed for radiologists, interventional physicians, biomedical engineers, imaging scientists, technology developers, trainees and industry partners interested in the future of MR-guided therapies. Registration closes Oct. 21.

Inaugural MIRI Biennial focuses on interventional MRI research

The Medical Imaging Research Institute at IU School of Medicine will host its inaugural MIRI Biennial, with a focus on interventional MRI research, on Nov. 6. Orlando Simonetti, PhD, from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and David Woodrum, MD, PhD, from Mayo Clinic, will present keynote addresses.

Cardiovascular imaging fellow studies biological changes in damaged heart muscle

Bhavana Sivakumar, a fellow with the Cardiovascular Imaging Research Center at IU School of Medicine, is researching the mechanisms behind the iron-containing molecule, heme, in contributing to tissue injury after a heart attack. She hopes to identify ways to reduce or prevent this damage and identify novel therapies that may mitigate heme-mediated injury.
