Welcome to the Case of the Month — a collaborative initiative designed to highlight educational and engaging pathology cases from across our department. This project brings together faculty, residents and fellows to showcase the diagnostic challenges and learning opportunities we encounter in our daily practice.
Each case featured here was thoughtfully selected and presented using a standardized format to emphasize key teaching points. Whether it’s a rare tumor, a classic presentation of a common entity or a case with an unexpected twist, the goal of Case of the Month is to foster learning, promote cross-subspecialty awareness and celebrate the depth and diversity of pathology we see at our institution.
Pathology is filled with moments that can teach, surprise and inspire. By highlighting one case each month, we aim to:
- Provide high-yield educational content in a digestible format
- Encourage collaboration between faculty and trainees
- Promote awareness of interesting cases beyond individual subspecialties
- Create a growing archive of cases for reference and teaching
This initiative is made possible through the participation of faculty across multiple subspecialties who work with residents or fellows (when applicable) to submit cases through a structured template. The result is a collection of concise, focused cases that reflect real-world diagnostic challenges and pearls.
What You’ll Find Here
You’ll find an archive of all previously featured Cases of the Month. Each case includes:
- A brief clinical summary
- Key gross and histologic findings
- Relevant ancillary studies (when applicable)
- A short discussion highlighting the diagnostic considerations and teaching points
We hope you’ll find these cases as informative and interesting as we did when reviewing and assembling them. Whether you're a trainee, practicing pathologist or just someone with a love for diagnostic pathology, there's something here for everyone.
