The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery consists of 30 adult faculty surgeons, five pediatric faculty surgeons and four research faculty members. In addition to adult and pediatric orthopaedic surgery, department faculty is immensely experienced in trauma orthopaedics, bone healing and regeneration, biomechanics, total joint replacement and sports medicine. At IU School of Medicine, medical students and residents are exposed to each of these subspecialities allowing for a well-rounded educational experience. Research faculty exercise dynamic leadership in their supervisory roles of mentoring, collaborating with and/or directing medical students, residents, fellows, junior colleagues and staff. The department collaborates extensively with other departments and schools on the IU School of Medicine—Indianapolis campus to fulfill its research mission.
