Bio
Gunnar Tysklind, MD is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon specializing in pediatric and adolescent sports medicine and pediatric orthopedic trauma.
He attended medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine and completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Cleveland Clinic Akron General. Dr. Tysklind completed his orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital and began practicing at Riley Children’s Health in 2020.
Dr. Tysklind became interested in medicine through working at his dad’s veterinary practice in high school. Through that experience, he realized that working on the human side of medicine is what he wanted to do long term. He enjoys being able to treat a wide variety of injuries starting from shoulder all the way down to the toes, and this helps keep him up to date and active in the treatment of many areas.
Throughout his life, Dr. Tysklind has been involved in soccer and understands how devastating it can be to a child to be taken away from sports or an activity they love due to an injury. You can expect Dr. Tysklind to diagnose the injury, help get your child through appropriate treatment whether surgery, therapy, or a combination of both, to get your child back to doing the activities they love.
Outside of treating patients, Dr. Tysklind enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, running and biking on outdoor trails, and other forms of physical fitness.
