Clint Bahler, MD, MS

Director of Research
Dr. Clint Bahler completed medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine after finishing a degree in biomedical engineering at Purdue University. He completed his urologic surgery residency at Indiana University School of Medicine and chose to undergo additional specialty fellowship training in laparoscopic and robotic surgery. His areas of clinical interest are prostate cancer and kidney cancer. Dr. Bahler enjoys bringing medical advances to patients and serves as principal investigator for clinical trials involving advanced PSMA-based imaging in prostate cancer. He has been married to his wife, Alesa, for over 15 years and they have four children.
Paula A. Johnson, MSN, NP-C
Clinical Research Nurse Team Lead
Paula is a family nurse practitioner and the team lead for the clinical research coordinators in the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Urology. With more than 24 years of healthcare experience and over a decade of clinical research experience, she leads and supports the conduct of industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical trials. Prior to joining the Department of Urology, Paula worked in clinical research within the Division of Infectious Diseases and served as a sub-investigator on industry-sponsored studies. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri-Columbia and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Purdue University. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading and participating in outdoor activities.
Brandon Garver, BS
Contract Officer
Brandon joined the Department of Urology in September 2024 as a research coordinator and has worked in regulated industries for five years. He transitioned into the contract officer role at the beginning of 2026 to help support the department by facilitating clinical trial start up. He has a bachelor’s degree in plant science from the College of Agriculture at Purdue University which he obtained in 2019. He is passionate about helping people and is excited to continue assisting physicians in conducting research focused on improving the treatment and quality of life for patients across central Indiana. Outside of work you will find him spending his time with his wife, Raquel, and their two children, Edmund and Lucia.
Ashley Frazee, PhD
Clinical Research Coordinator
After completing a BS in organizational leadership and supervision in 2004 and working at the Social Security Administration, Ashley returned to school in 2013 to complete a BS in neuroscience and a PhD in biology at IUPUI. During her graduate studies she investigated modulation of mutant voltage-gated sodium channels by fibroblast growth factor homologous factors. She joined Department of Urology in September 2024. Married for 20 years, she and her husband Todd enjoy camping and amateur astronomy.
Andi Nowakowski, MSHM
Clinical Research Coordinator
Andi Nowakowski pursued a bachelor's of science in biotechnology and later went on to complete a master’s in healthcare management at Indiana University Bloomington. Before coming to the Department of Urology, they worked in early drug development in immunology and immunotoxicology. They transitioned their career to clinical research as they wanted to engage with patients and offer them treatments to improve their quality of life. Their passions include process improvement, workplace culture building and keeping patients at the heart of what they do. In their free time, they enjoy dog training (they trained their own service dog who has become the favorite coworker of the team), travel, spending time with their partner and anything that involves the outdoors.

Stephanie Wofford, MS
Clinical Research Coordinator
With more than 20 years of experience in healthcare, Stephanie has dedicated her career to supporting patients, research and community engagement. She joined Indiana University in 2013 and transitioned to a clinic research coordinator role within the Department of Urology in 2021. Stephanie earned a Master of Science in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Indiana University. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, designing creative projects and giving back through volunteer work.

Jeremy Koehlinger
Clinical Research Coordinator
Jeremy joined IU in 2016, working with the Department of Pathology on invitro diagnostic research. He joined the pediatric urology team as the research coordinator in 2020 and enjoys helping to develop studies and manage the data for research projects. Jeremy is a certified research professional (SOCRA) and medical laboratory scientist (ASCP) with nearly 10 years of experience as a technologist in the microbiology laboratory.
