Research Resources
Our team maintains several robust prostate cancer research databases, including:
- Post-prostatectomy outcomes: more than 5,000 cases
- PSMA-PET for biochemical recurrence: more than 2,000 cases
- PSMA-PET for preoperative guidance with whole-mount pathology: more than 200 cases
- HIFU for prostate cancer treatment: more than 250 cases
Fellows also have access to the Urology Biostatistics Core, led by Yan Tong, PhD.
Research Collaborations
The prostate cancer research team works closely with specialists in nuclear medicine and MRI, as well as a clinical trials team conducting both industry-funded and investigator-initiated studies. Our research collaborations also include PhD investigators specializing in radiochemistry, engineering and artificial intelligence, and metabolism.
The team collaborates with academic medical centers across the United States, providing additional opportunities for multidisciplinary research.
Faculty Mentor
Clint Bahler, MD, MS, completed a minimally invasive robotics fellowship in 2015 and performs advanced robotic techniques, including Retzius-sparing robotic prostatectomy, designed to preserve urinary control and minimize incontinence.
Dr. Bahler is currently NIH-funded (R01) for a clinical trial using advanced PSMA-based imaging in prostate cancer and has additional clinical trials investigating real-time fluorescent imaging for intraoperative surgical guidance (NCT06434909 and NCT06849544).
