60260-Sharma, Hayley

Hayley Sharma, MD

PGY 5
University of Minnesota Medical School

Hayley Sharma is a current med-peds trained pediatric infectious diseases fellow. She grew up in Minnesota, with her family moving to Switzerland and then London in her later teenage years. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Baylor University and got her MD at the University of Minnesota Medical School. She then completed a med-peds residency at IU. It was working with the peds ID team at IU that convinced her to pursue a fellowship in peds ID, and thus she was happy to stay for the remainder of her training. Her current interests within peds ID include antimicrobial stewardship, global health, and disaster/outbreak response, and she loves the breadth of cases that peds ID fellows at IU get to see. She especially loves working with patients whose preferred language is not English, as she herself speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese and basic Haitian Creole/French. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys exploring different cultures (whether traveling abroad or visiting local ethnic restaurants), going on 10-mile walks and playing tennis/pickle ball.
