Operative Experience

Each year, fellows gain broad experiences with various arthroplasty cases. Operative experience includes primary hip and knee arthroplasty, unicompartmental knee arthroplasty and complex revision hip and knee replacement.

All faculty operate at tertiary care centers and are the primary referral destinations for hip and knee care in Indiana, eastern Illinois and western Ohio. This results in fellows annually accumulating roughly 450 cases, each with 20-25% revision volume.

Teaching and Evaluation

Fellows are evaluated after each surgical rotation based on surgical judgment, skill and knowledge. They receive one-on-one in-person communication at the end of each rotation and weekly feedback in the didactic lectures. Fellows are also given feedback on their ability to synthesize data in peer-reviewed publications in the monthly journal club.
