The Medical Laboratory Science bachelor’s degree program offers an 11-month professional curriculum consisting of 36 credit hours that begins in the fall semester and finishes upon completion of the first summer session. The 11-month professional curriculum is offered at Indiana University School of Medicine's Indianapolis and Evansville campuses.
The first seven months of the program provide knowledge and technical training in all areas of the clinical laboratory, including diagnostic microbiology, hematology, clinical chemistry, immunohematology and molecular diagnostics. The remaining four months of the program build upon and complement this foundation through clinical rotations in hospital laboratories.
Clinical Training
All students accepted into the Medical Laboratory Science Program are guaranteed a clinical training spot with the school’s clinical affiliates. Clinical affiliates include but are not limited to IU Health (including IU Health University Hospital, IU Health Methodist Hospital, Riley Hospital for Children and others), Eskenazi Hospital, Richard Roudebush Veterans Administration Medical Center, Hendricks Regional Health and Deaconess Health.
