The Musculoskeletal Basic Science Administrative Core (Admin Core) oversees, coordinates and integrates the individual basic science research cores of the Indiana Center for Musculoskeletal Health.
Administrative Core Functions
The Admin Core can help investigators with specific functions related to core usage, including:
-
Navigation of services and consultation to maximize opportunities with individual core offerings
-
Providing collaboration/connection input and suggestions to achieve experimental help for questions that are beyond investigators area of expertise
-
Administering an enrichment program which provides outreach and exposure of musculoskeletal science to the next generation of biomedical sciences. Currently, the program supports the Indiana CTSI SEED/STEM program, which offers high school students immersion research experiences in musculoskeletal labs. The eight-week program fosters in-depth experiences in research environments, alongside research mentorship and professional development. The Admin Core provides stipends to those with financial needs.
-
Offering pilot grant funding opportunities to offset costs associated with core services. This funding opportunity considers applications from ICMH members holding a faculty position, and emphasizes proposals that seek funds to obtain critical preliminary and/or feasibility data for an external grant application or to conduct pilot experiments to test a new idea. Cooperation between basic and clinical researchers and interdisciplinary collaborations are encouraged.
