Haddie DeHart
Carpenter Lab
Entered August 2019
I am a PhD student in the Carpenter Lab. My research is focused on a transcription factor in the Sonic Hedgehog pathway. More specifically, I am interested in tGLI1, a truncated form of GLI1, and it’s role in brain cancer growth and progression. Before coming to IU, I lived in Boston, MA, where I first worked for Foundation Medicine, one of the leading companies in precision medicine, and the Center for Advanced Molecular Diagnostics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. When I am not in lab, I greatly enjoy rowing, running, biking and binge-watching movies.

I am a grad student in the Hundley Lab. My research interest lies in RNA biology and editing. Currently I am working with C. elegans as a model system. I completed my master's in biology from Purdue Northwest. I am from Kathmandu, Nepal and I enjoy dancing, listening to audiobooks and trying out new recipes.

Hollenhorst Lab
Entered August 2020
I did my undergrad at Michigan State University and joined the CMCB program in 2020. I’m in the Hollenhorst Lab, where I’ve been looking into chimeric transcription factors. For fun I like to bake bread and watch Murder, She Wrote.
Sam Metcalfe
Hollenhorst Lab
Entered August 2023
I am a grad student in Dr. Hollenhorst’s lab. I am studying the role of a transcription factor complex in prostate cancer and how it could be inhibited to decrease tumor growth. Before coming to IU, I studied biology at Bradley University and worked as a research assistant at the Jump Simulation Center, a medical education research department of the OSF hospital system in Peoria, IL. In my free time I enjoy reading, board games and watching movies.
Tara Metcalfe
Nephew Lab
Entered August 2020
I am a CMCB student who entered the program in 2020 and am in the Nephew Lab. For my research, I am interested in epigenetics and the role it plays mechanistically in platinum-induced ovarian cancer stem cells. Besides this I previously graduated from Michigan State University and in my spare time I love any type of physical activities and cooking/baking.
