Emergency Medicine Residency

The IU School of Medicine—Bloomington Emergency Medicine Residency program trains residents to provide excellent patient care in ALL emergency department settings and circumstances while advancing the field with a special focus on rural and critical access settings. The Emergency Medicine Residency utilizes seven clinical sites to expose residents to a variety of emergency medicine opportunities, from small rural critical access sites to busy community referral centers and specialized pediatric emergency medicine settings. The comprehensive curriculum is designed to immerse residents in essential aspects of emergency medicine in a variety of settings, helping physicians build the confidence and skills needed to deliver effective care to all patients, regardless of the resources available. Residents will have the opportunity to develop as leaders and educators who drive the culture of medicine progressively forward.

Internal Medicine Residency

The IU School of Medicine—Bloomington Internal Medicine Residency program will prepare residents to practice in a variety of hospital and ambulatory settings, with a special focus and opportunity for training in rural and critical access settings. The program will help each resident physician develop according to their interests and potential, including residents interested in primary care, general internal medicine hospital-based medicine, preparation for subspecialty training and rural medicine. The Internal Medicine Residency program will utilize three IU Health Hospital settings, including Bedford and Paoli, an additional six ambulatory settings, and a longitudinal resident-staffed continuity clinic. Residents trained in this program will become professional, independent practitioners who deliver safe, comprehensive, high quality, cost effective and patient-centered care in service to the patients of Southern Indiana.
