The curriculum in the Psychiatry Residency program at Merrillville integrates residents with community mental health providers in clinics and facilities throughout northwest Indiana. With the program’s unique structure, residents are afforded opportunities in research, scholarship, didactics and educational support at Indiana University School of Medicine.
Resident Life
All residents attend protected half-day didactics and have the opportunity to teach and mentor medical students. Integrated distance learning with the Department of Psychiatry, including Grand Rounds, is provided to ensure residents stay connected with department staff, faculty and residents outside of Merrillville. Residents have full access to the Ruth Lilly Medical Library in Indianapolis. Residents also have the opportunity to participate in bimonthly journal clubs, research electives and participation in national meetings.
