Interested in getting involved in medical education?

We need you!

Many opportunities exist, from occasional teaching once a semester to frequent student interactions depending on your availability, such as:

  • Clinical preceptor for 1st and 2nd year medical students — primary care physicians preferred, half a day/month
  • Clinical teaching in clerkships or electives — two to four week commitment in your specialty
  • Physician mentor — supporting students throughout their medical education by sharing advice on workload, stress, doubts, focus, work-life balance
  • Student outreach clinic adjunct faculty — one evening per month, overseeing patient care during the clinic operations of the student outreach clinic housed at Matthew 25 Clinic
  • Point-of-care ultrasound instructor — introducing medical students to bedside ultrasound (cardiac, lung, renal, MSK), several sessions throughout the year
  • Clinical instructor — working with a small group of 8-10 students who meet monthly for a two hour journal club.

Please contact Sharon Roberts, clinical education manager, at robeshar@iu.edu or Angie Martin, PhD, assistant director of Phase 1, at martinai@iu.edu for more information. Besides receiving a prestigious IU adjunct faculty appointment, physicians receive benefits like CME credits and access to the Ruth Lilly Medical Library.
