Welcome!

The Indiana University School of Medicine Family Medicine Residency at IU Health Arnett Hospital is a three-year program within the expansive IU School of Medicine Graduate Medical Education. Since its start in 2018, the program facilitates learning with its distinctive longitudinal curriculum model. As an unopposed, community-based program, family medicine residents are prepared to provide patient-centered care that integrates team-based care and population health approaches for individuals, families and the community.

While being an Indiana University School of Medicine residency site in a community setting outside of Indianapolis has created autonomy during the program's development, being part of a large, nationally recognized medical school has provided us with guidance and all the resources to help during our growth.

Message from the Program Director

Welcome to the IU School of Medicine Family Medicine Residency at IU Health Arnett Hospital! Thank you for interest in our program.

The Arnett residency program started in 2018 and has graduated providers who have pursued careers in ambulatory care, hospitalist medicine, urgent care and fellowship-trained geriatrics. Several of our graduates have stayed in the greater Lafayette area or throughout Indiana, but many have also moved across the U.S. and Canada. Our board pass rate is 100%, demonstrating the strength of our program.

With the resources afforded by Indiana University School of Medicine and being a community-based hospital, our program offers the best of both worlds. Our unique longitudinal curriculum gives residents ongoing exposure to certain clinical areas to help improve retention and understanding.

Working alongside the other faculty, staff and residents, the program continues to grow and develop. From substance use treatment, gender affirming care, osteopathic manipulation and POCUS, our faculty have a wide range of interests which allows our residents to discover and develop their passions within the broad field of family medicine.

I joined the program in 2022 as core faculty and became program director in 2025. I look forward to continuing to work with our amazing team and help this program continue to thrive.
