The Division of Dermatopathology is housed in a world class, dedicated core pathology laboratory that is located on the beautiful Indianapolis central canal and cultural trail. Cutaneous specimens (more than 17,000 cases annually) are received from the five hospitals on the academic health campus (IU Health University Hospital, IU Health Methodist Hospital, Eskenazi Health Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital, Riley Hospital for Children, and Richard L. Roudebush Indianapolis Veterans’ Administration Medical Center), other hospitals in the state-wide IU Health network and private dermatology practices. A robust volume of consultation cases are received from Indiana and surrounding states. Our in-house and consultation cases include a mix of challenging melanocytic neoplasms, rare superficial mesenchymal tumors, various cutaneous lymphomas and complex rashes.
Training in histomorphology, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, immunofluorescence and molecular interpretation is provided by our seven experienced faculty dermatopathologists within the Department of Pathology. Clinical dermatology training is provided by the Department of Dermatology, which provides patient care at the five hospitals on the academic health campus and at numerous outreach clinics.
Fellows are encouraged to contribute to our digital slide archive.
