MD Education

Through third- and fourth-year clerkships, physician educators in the Department of Dermatology at IU School of Medicine train medical students to refine diagnostic and therapeutic skills on various common dermatoses. Medical students gain experience to become comfortable in evaluating and treating patients through clinical rotations.

Clerkships

Dermatology is one of the medical specialties in which medical students participate in a month-long rotation in various clinical settings, didactic sessions and formal lectures by faculty and residents. Clerkship rotations expose medical students to a wide range of skin conditions, including psoriasis, rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, acne vulgaris, atopic dermatitis, benign neoplasms, and stasis dermatitis and ulcers. Medical students also learn the core competencies of the MD Curriculum: Patient Care, Medical Knowledge, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement; Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Professionalism, and Systems-Based Practice.

Guest Students

Visiting medical students are welcome to take the dermatology electives at IU School of Medicine.
