Student support

If you are working with a student who needs support, there are a variety of resources available to help.

Learning Support

Students struggling academically should meet with their lead advisor to develop study plans, find a tutor, or take advantage of other learning resources.

Mental Health Services

The Department of Mental Health Services provides mental health and personal counseling services to all students, residents and fellows on every IU School of Medicine campus. They offer both in-person and tele-health visits. A 24-hour Mental Health Crisis Line is available by calling 317-278-HELP (4357).

Holistic Student Development Referral

The Holistic Student Development (HSD) process is a developmental, coaching-oriented approach that supports student success and professional growth. Faculty and staff can use the HSD referral process to identify concerns early, recognize patterns over time, and connect students with appropriate support before issues escalate. Learn more in the HSD Guidelines and submit a referral using the HSD Referral Form.

Mistreatment Reporting

IU School of Medicine students or faculty who believe they’ve experienced or witnessed mistreatment are strongly encouraged to report it. Learn more and report mistreatment.
