The Indiana University School of Medicine—Indianapolis campus offers access to and collaboration with some of the nation’s top clinical partners as well as premier laboratories and other research facilities. Led by outstanding medical education and research experts — many of whom rank among the nation’s best physicians and scientists — this urban campus, located a mile-and-a-half away from the heart of downtown Indianapolis, offers advanced medical education in the heart of one of the most affordable, progressive and economically healthy cities in the United States.

This family-friendly city has been ranked No. 58 out of 200 cities as the Best Place for Business and Careers by Forbes Magazine and two of it's most popular suburbs were recently named the #1 and #2 best places to live in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. Sports fans can experience one of the largest single-day sporting events in the world at the Indy 500 or cheer on one of the professional sports teams including the Indianapolis Colts NFL team, Indiana Pacers NBA team, Indiana Fever WNBA team, Indy Eleven soccer team, Indianapolis minor league baseball team or Indy Fuel hockey team. 

Indianapolis boasts the largest children's museum in the world and has other fantastic museums and activities including the Indianapolis Zoo, Indiana Medical History Museum, NCAA Hall of Champions, Conner Prairie interactive history park and Newfields art museum and nature park. If you are a music fan the city has everything from national headliners to free concerts. Salary and Benefits

IU School of Medicine offers a competitive salary and benefits package for residents. The Department of Otolaryngology provides additional support. In addition to the generous benefits package IU School of Medicine provides to resident physicians as employees, otolaryngology residents receive additional professional development funds, equipment, paid time off and other support.

Additional Benefits

Supplemental funding is available to each otolaryngology resident for loupes ($1,500, one-time purchase) and travel (one poster or oral presentation at a meeting per year).

PGY1s and PGY2s are allotted three weeks of vacation per year. PGY3s, PGY4s and PGY5s have four weeks of vacation per year.

Complimentary enrollment is available to otolaryngology residents for the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, American College of Surgeons, and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Any other society memberships are at the preference of the individual resident, and such fees are not covered by the department.
