The fellowship in complex benign gynecology, formerly known as the Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Fellowship, at Indiana University School of Medicine is a two-year, comprehensive, multidisciplinary program that produces competent, well-rounded, advanced gynecologic endoscopists who may pursue a career in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery in many different capacities. Surgical caseload ranges from office-based hysteroscopy to advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery.
Clinical Training

Complex benign gynecology fellows work side by side with the faculty in the office and operating room in multiple settings, including academia, private practice, a county hospital and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Fellows participate in the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative care of patients and experience ongoing supervision by the complex benign gynecology faculty during the clinical months with a graduated level of responsibility as training advances. By the completion of this program, fellows are competent, advanced, complex benign gynecology specialists capable of operating independently and acting in a consultant role.
