Educating future neurosurgeons is one of the core missions of the Department of Neurological Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine. Faculty members take pride in teaching and training the next generation of neurosurgeons in clinical care, surgical competence and research. The diverse clinical and basic science faculty at IU create a rich environment for achieving scholarly and technical skills to pursue a career in academic or private practice setting. The Neurological Surgery Residency, a competitive seven-year program, consists of clinical training and didactic curriculum that includes cadaver and simulation training. This ACGME-accredited program was established in 1949.
