Santosh R. Sukka, PhD is an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and an NIH/NHLBI K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award recipient. His research focuses on how macrophage immunometabolism and efferocytosis establish reparative states that promote inflammation resolution and cardiovascular tissue repair. His work has identified metabolic pathways that promote tissue resolution and fibrous-cap stabilization during atherosclerosis regression. His emerging independent research program seeks to understand how these reparative macrophage states are initiated, sustained, and communicated to neighboring cells, and to extend these principles from vascular repair to myocardial recovery.
