During an improv exercise called "Time Traveler," Kate Kollman, NP, a 2025 Communicating Science participant, attempts to explain — to a scene partner who plays the part of a person who lived more than a century ago — how X-ray technology allows someone to "see" a broken bone.

Learn to confidently share your science with anyone

Learn to think on your feet, clarify your message and get people's attention when you attend Communicating Science. This workshop series teaches improvisational techniques proven to be effective tools for engaging communication and will give you the tools you need to share your work with anyone. Apply by Nov. 26.

Nominate an excellent educator for the Trustees' Teaching Award

Learners, residents, fellows, postdocs, faculty and staff: You know someone worth recognizing! Help IU School of Medicine honor its excellent educators by nominating those you know for the IU Trustees' Teaching Award. Nominations are due Jan. 9. View the criteria and complete a nomination.

Dec. 2: Structure research team meetings to maximize learning

Explore techniques for planning research meetings that drive project advancement; provide educational value for and engage all team members; encourage critical thinking; and support mentorship, skill development and collaborative learning at this Dec. 2 Academy of Teaching Scholars workshop.
