Magdalena B. Czader, MD, PhD, has been named interim chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, effective June 1, 2026, while Michael Feldman, MD, PhD, serves as interim dean of the Indiana University School of Medicine.
Czader is the Virgil Moon Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and currently serves as vice chair of clinical pathology and director of IU Health Pathology Laboratories. Her clinical and research interests focus on advancing diagnostic approaches for hematologic malignancies.
Prior to joining IU School of Medicine, Czader earned her MD from Poznan University of Medical Sciences in Poland and her PhD from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. She completed her pathology residency and hematopathology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she also served as chief resident.
In the interim chair role, Czader will provide leadership and oversight of the department’s clinical, education and research missions and help ensure continuity during this period of transition for the school.
