About Ruben

Dr. Hernandez is an associate professor of clinical family medicine and vice chair of education. A native of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Dr. Hernandez moved to Indianapolis in 2005 for family medicine training at the IU-Methodist Family Medicine Residency. He currently chairs the school's teaching awards committee and has served as an advisor to numerous student groups, including the Latino Medical Student Association and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He has been involved in faculty development at IU School of Medicine and around the globe. Most recently, he served as a member of the school's clinical cluster initiative as a member of the interview committee. Dr. Hernandez will focus his work on supporting faculty who are underrepresented in medicine, which includes PLUS, the cluster program and iDREAM.
