Bio

Why I chose Family Medicine: Family medicine is a field that allows me to support and advocate for patients throughout their lives. I value the continuity of care it offers and hope to build meaningful, long term relationships with my patients. Some of my specific interests include women’s health and endocrinology, mental health care, and preventive medicine including precision medicine and lifestyle medicine. I plan to continue developing these interests throughout my training. Why I chose the IU Arnett Family Medicine Residency Program: IU Arnett stood out to me because it seemed like a program where I would be supported while also getting strong, well rounded training. There is a balance of inpatient and outpatient experience, and the fact that it’s a community based program within a larger academic system stood out to me. During my interview, I got the sense that IU Arnett has a very close knit, welcoming sense of community and support among it’s residents and faculty! I am also interested in exploring areas in lifestyle medicine and behavioral health within family medicine, and I feel like this program would give me the flexibility to grow in those interests. Overall, it just felt like a place where I could see myself not only becoming a strong family medicine physician, but also enjoying the process of training and feeling supported throughout it! Personal interests and hobbies: Cross-country skiing, reading romance and thriller novels, writing (published contemporary fiction author under a pseudonym), pilates and strength training, and exploring new restaurants ranging from Michelin-starred dining to hidden local gems!
