Bio
Dr. Nunez is from Reynosa, Mexico, where growing up with limited access to healthcare inspired her interest in medicine. She studied at Tecnológico de Monterrey in northern Mexico and later completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Pulmonary Medicine Department at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she worked on understanding how mucus is secreted in the lungs: a process that, if better understood, could open the door to improved treatments for conditions like asthma and cystic fibrosis. After residency, she hopes to pursue a fellowship that combines clinical care with research to improve how we diagnose and manage complex pediatric diseases, potentially in fields like nephrology, neurology, or pulmonology. Outside of medicine, she enjoys playing the piano (especially tangos and Latin American waltzes), painting with watercolors, reading and writing poetry, crocheting, and solving jigsaw puzzles. She is truly honored to join an institution like Indiana University/Riley Hospital and is excited for what lies ahead.
