About Amber

Amber joined the IU School of Medicine Office of Gift Development in 2002, putting her skills as a communicator to work advancing the mission of the organization that saved her father’s life after he was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2000. Amber was the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center’s first annual giving officer. In that role, she focused on building relationships with donors giving less than $1,000 annually.

In 2006, she became the senior associate director of development for the cancer center. During that time, she focused on generating major gift support for research in the areas of lung cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and testis cancer. In 2018, Amber was appointed to her current role as director of development for the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center. In addition to leading the cancer center’s four-person team and major gift fundraising efforts, Amber also provides fundraising support for the Department of Radiation Oncology.

She enjoys serving as the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center’s liaison with the Indiana Elks and the Indiana Lions. Amber earned her bachelor of science, summa cum laude, from the University of Evansville in 2000. She earned her master’s degree in 2003 from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. A native of Hanover, IN, Amber now lives in Indianapolis with her husband and two sons.
