Bio
Chani Taggart, DO, currently serves as Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery, in the Department of Surgery. She received her medical degree from Rocky Vista University, School of Osteopathic Medicine. Prior to joining Indiana University, Dr. Taggart completed her residency training in General Surgery at University of North Dakota, followed by fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care through the Creighton University School of Medicine-Phoenix program at Valleywise Health. She practiced as a Trauma/Surgical Critical Care Surgeon with the District Medical Group at Valleywise Health Medical Center from 2023 through 2025.
Dr. Taggart’s clinical focus is trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care. Her interest is in trauma outcomes research and quality improvement. She has assisted in creation of several of peer-reviewed publications and has been involved in development of quality improvement projects and clinical practice guidelines. She also has strong interested in surgical education and has participated in several lectures.
Dr. Taggart is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, American College of Surgeons, and American Osteopathic Association.
