Bio
Jonathan Vacek, MD, MS, currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Pediatric Surgery. Dr. Vacek received his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine and his master's degree in health services and Outcomes Research from Northwestern University.
Prior to joining Indiana University, Dr. Vacek completed his General Surgery Residency and Pediatric Surgery Fellowship at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, and a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
His clinical interests and practice encompass all areas of pediatric surgery, including congenital malformations, colorectal surgery, oncology, chest wall reconstruction, and critical care. He has a specific focus in innovation.
Dr. Vacek’s research spans several surgical diseases and analyzes how the delivery of care influences outcomes. He is an author on more than 40 peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Vacek is a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association.
