Bio
Dr. Fernandes was born in India, spent the first 4 years of his life in England, followed by 3 years in Ireland - eventually making the move to the US in 1997. He attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for his undergraduate studies and earned his MD at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. He completed his Preliminary-Internal Medicine Internship at MedStar Georgetown University before beginning PM&R Residency at the University of Toledo Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. He spent 4 years working in Private Practice in Indianapolis at various Community Rehabilitation Hospitals before joining the Indiana School of Medicine as an Assistant Clinical Professor of PM&R in 2024. In addition to working with students and residents, he has a passion for promoting learner wellness and offering career mentorship.
In his free time, he enjoys watching basketball, playing the saxophone & violin, and investing/trading in the stock market.
