Bio
Paola Pieri, MD, is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Indiana University. She earned her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine.
Before joining Indiana University, Pieri served at Valleywise Health Hospital (formerly Maricopa Medical Center) in Phoenix, AZ. There, she held multiple leadership roles, including SICU Director, Program Director for the Surgical and Burn Critical Care Fellowship Programs, and core faculty member for the General Surgery residency. She also practiced as a Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care Surgeon.
Pieri specializes in Trauma Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care. Her research interests span various aspects of trauma surgery and surgical critical care, and she has contributed as a co-investigator and author of more than 27 peer-reviewed publications.
She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, Society of Critical Care Medicine, Surgical Critical Care Program Directors Society, and the Association of Program Directors in Surgery.
